Seeking counseling is a courageous step and an authentic connection with your counselor is essential for a positive experience. Tonya understands the hardships of life and the feelings of overwhelm, confusion, anger, and sadness that can make it difficult to navigate through the day. Feeling too busy with life, struggling in relationships, battling with unhealthy habits, or being unsure of who you are anymore can lead to a life of no motivation, no connection with others, and hopelessness. At times, we all need someone by our side to help us understand ourselves better and find hope again. Tonya is honored and humbled to be “that someone” for her clients.
Tonya’s empathy and non-judgmental approach honors the uniqueness and dignity of each individual. She considers it a privilege to journey alongside clients from all walks of life as they learn new coping strategies and ways to connect with the world around them. Tonya is a down-to-earth, Person-Centered therapist and provides a safe, therapeutic relationship in which she collaborates with clients to grow toward healing and wholeness. Using an integrative approach, she incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Internal Family Systems concepts, Polyvagal theory, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to support the transformation of clients’ thoughts, behaviors, emotions, spirituality, and physiology. Her experience in many levels of mental health and substance use care, including residential treatment, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient care, equip her to meet clients’ needs with insight and grace. Tonya also knows the benefits of humor and appreciates a good belly laugh every chance she gets.
